Welcome to the world of Lost Admiral
Returns!
Deep thinking
strategy gaming...
Defeat your enemies in battles by
outmaneuvering
them for control of coastal cities with battleships,
submarines, destroyers, and other types of ships.
Build your own warships and then face surprises as
the enemy fleet disposition gradually reveals
itself. Tease the vicious enemy artificial
intelligence with feints, blockades, pinch-points,
and sacrifice maneuvers on strategic and tactical
levels with moves that are chess like at times.
LAR
is made by Thurston Searfoss, who created
the original Lost Admiral, Conquered Kingdoms,
and Grandest Fleet with QQP back in
1991 through 1996.
Spice up the action with new
special missions such as "Trouble Next Door",
"Secrets", "Recon", "Fishing
Rights", and more. Use the random map
generator for endless challenging battles.
Download
now and start enjoying the simple yet deep fun of Lost Admiral
Returns.

Read
some recent quotes from reviewers and players about LAR:
"The
best game I've played in my recent spate of reviewing
is, without question, The Lost Admiral Returns.
You've heard the clichés applied to other games: easy to
learn, hard to master. This time it's true." -
Peterb -
Tea Leaves Blog
"[LAR] is clear and
simple, driven by broad significant choices and an
intuitive interplay among the different ships. It goes
down like ice cream ... The sweet easy
rock/paper/scissors of it all clicks into place." -
Tom Chick - Computer Games Magazine
Back before all the mindless
shooters and frenzied RTS's, there were games where
you had to THINK. Kudos to Thurston Searfoss for
re-creating one of those - an amazingly fun thinking
game! AI is AWESOME! Finally a game that
taxes your brain, not your wrist! -- Dallan Quass
One of the best
turn style games I have played in the last 18 years.
"just get lost in time once in a while" "the
perfect getaway from your daily routine"- Oliver
I love the new flagships and the
flexibility in strategy that they bring - Alan How
“Lost
Admiral Returns” is just the gaming ticket for
anyone who wants a strategic challenge. There is
some excellent eye candy here, too, but the reason
this title will hold a place of honor in your own
pantheon of great games it that it will challenge
you, make you think and have a thoroughly
enjoyable time in the process.”
--Lonnie Falk, Editor, Rainbow-PCM Reviews On-Line
Simple to learn and difficult to
truly master. Kind of like chess at sea. -
anonymous
Great strategy game ! Can be set to play at any
skill level, just like a good chess program, easy
to beat the level 1 AI but level 11 will challenge
the most jaded armchair admiral. - anonymous
Like all great strategy games,
the rules are simple, but the variations are
endless. Great for hours of enjoyment. -
anonymous
"[LAR] even has a hook for the RPG whore/MMO slave
I've become. After every game, you can upgrade
your flagship. It gets special powers." - Tom
Chick - Computer Games Magazine
"Gameplay
is fast-paced, for a hex-based wargame, and
addictive. I constantly find myself saying "Just
one more battle before bed," which is a sure sign
of incipient dependency." -
Peterb -

Lost Admiral Returns is inspired
by the original Lost
Admiral™ game released by Thurston Searfoss with
QQP in 1991. Winning "Strategy Game of the
Year" in 1992 from Computer Gaming World Magazine,
Lost Admiral is still played today by fans who will
soon have the vastly improved Lost Admiral Returns
to continue the legacy. Thurston has also created
several other games with QQP in the past, including
Conquered Kingdoms™
and Grandest Fleet™
games. |

The
new Lost Admiral Returns engine is designed
to adhere to the deep, fun, tried and true game play
of the original TLA, with a
customizable interface
that does much more than the old game did, along
with whole layers of new challenges and abilities
that were not in the original old game. The biggest
new gaming stuff to try in the game are special
“Save the Admiral” missions that add whole new knife
edge aspects of victory as you balance the normal
fight for Victory Points with the special mission
needs…
Lost Admiral
Returns is still a turn-based game, to keep the
deepest, almost chess-like strategy and planning
aspects during all parts of the game play.
Many other new aspects are things like improved
statistics tracking, several
different ranking
systems, Internet High Score pages, a whole
new
flagship system, an extended
“Save the Admiral”
campaign with all new challenges, and a few more
things in the works.
The game
continues to grow and change every week – month, and
feedback from LAR players is a key part of that
process! |

Lost Admiral Returns has very
chess like maneuvering and will appeal to fans of
any type of battleship game, submarine game, naval
strategy game, war game, or turn based strategy
game. The game play also appeals to chess game
players who like chess puzzles or chess strategies. |

Lost Admiral Returns is like a
chess game where you don't see the enemy
battle pieces until they are upon you ... unlike
Chess, there are no books
on openings or endplays to give your opponent
advantage. - Al Toth
