Experience the spirit of the largest clash of dreadnaughts in naval
history. Take charge of an elite group of battleships, or an
overwhelming force of cruisers. Carry the fight to the enemy, and
prevail by outmaneuvering the enemy.
Play as the Battleships, or as the Cruisers in
this world war I Battle of Jutland...
Red starts with a core force of battleships, with some sneaky
submarines and a few destroyers for speed. Yellow has many cruisers
and more destroyers. Yellow is more numerous, but Red's battleships
have a big edge in toe to toe combat. Destroyer flanking actions are
important for both sides.
Victory is based on keeping your own home cities while attacking
the enemy home cities. Do not lose track of the warship fight, as
the enemy will overwhelm you in detail if you concentrate on just raiding
cities.
Remember that transports are the key to holding cities in most
Lost Admiral Returns battles. Keep a transport in a city to keep
earning victory points for that city. If your transport leaves the
city or is sunk, the city will go un-owned. Win the battle by
earning more victory points than the enemy. The harder the
difficulty level you choose, the more VPs you will have to earn compared
to the enemy side.
"Jutland" has different warship distributions
and layouts for every battle, depending on the AI level you
challenge, and which side you play as (red or yellow). If you find
the current level too difficult, try a lower level. To win a Gold
patch, play against level 8 or higher, and win by as large a percent ratio
as you can. Post your scores online as either yellow or red and see
what kind of scores other people have achieved for the same level.
Specific hints on how to fight the battle of Jutland start here:
When playing as Red,
keep your battleships alive as long as possible to crush the enemy
destroyers and then cruisers. But do not let the numerous enemy
warships slip past you to your vulnerable home cities. Keep your
submarines together and strike at enemy cruisers before those pesky
destroyers find and sink your submarines. Slip your own destroyers
past the enemy forces to his home cities, or use them to kill enemy
destroyers.
When playing as Yellow, be careful
of the enemy Battleship's edge in toe to toe combat. Maneuver past
the enemy to strike at home cities, but do not lose the main battle of
warship against warship. If you do, the battleships will scrub your
remaining forces off the map before the battle ends.
Instant Battles like this one can not be projected, so you will have to
fight out every turn of the battle, squeezing out
every victory point you can each turn. Be careful not to
let the enemy turn the tide of battle on the last few turns.
